World Lottery Summit
The World Lottery Summit 2014
Thank you for attending
Dear Friends and Lottery Colleagues,
Many heartfelt thanks for all those who made the World Lottery Summit 2014 a huge success. More than 1,000 participants from around the globe found that “all roads lead to Rome” at WLS 2014.
The summit featured a stimulating business program, with highlights including game designer Jane McGonigal’s thought-provoking session on video gaming, and Google’s Caroline de Fontenay on how lotteries can leverage YouTube for purposes such as marketing and promotion. We were apprised not only of the opportunities open to our industry, but also of the challenges we face as we move forward. We left Rome with our energies redoubled, and graced with the inspiration to turn those challenges into opportunities.
WLS 2014 also offered a lively and engaging trade show, with approximately 40 international exhibitors on hand to present the latest innovations in lottery technology. As at past summits, we had the pleasure of greeting many industry friends and colleagues as well as the occasion to cultivate new acquaintances. We are sure you will agree that the opportunities for personal networking afforded by the World Lottery Summit is of the utmost value to our global lottery community.
The biennial get-together that is the World Lottery Summit is also a time of celebration. The social program gave us the chance to proclaim the growth of the world lottery community, to reflect on our achievements, and to honor those that have made the global lottery industry the preeminent means of sustaining good causes worldwide.
In closing, a word of appreciation must be directed to:
- Lottomatica, for their gracious hosting of the convention;
- The WLS 2014 Organizing Committee, who dedicated many long hours to the success of this event;
- The volunteers who were helpful, friendly, and the public face of WLS 2014 throughout the entire convention;
- Our contributors, whose support make such important events possible; and
- The more than 1,000 participants whose energy and enthusiasm made the convention the great success that it was.
The WLA now sets its sights on its next biennial convention and trade show, the World Lottery Summit 2016, to be hosted by Singapore Pools in Singapore two years from now. For more information about WLS 2016, please see the WLS 2016 website at www.wls2016.org.
